you need to know before you come How
can we help ?Linda Briggs in Hungary is here to help you take advantage of the very high
quality but cheap, cosmetic surgery, cosmetic dentistry, general
medicine, general surgery, alternative therapy treatments and an ever
growing number of new, cosmetic skin rejuvenation treatments available
here in Budapest. We open the doors for you and give you access to highly
qualified specialists that can consult with you and recommend the best treatments available according to your individual needs. We help you organise your consultations, surgical pre-tests, surgery, control
check-up examinations, hotel / apartment accommodations and transfers from the
airport and to the clinics. We do not organise your travel to Hungary but can
pass you onto someone who can, so please
ask about this service.
Important
note:Caveat Emptor is latin for 'the buyer beware'. This is a very
important thing to remember when selecting a cosmetic surgeon. Everyone
has bad days, it's human nature and cosmetic surgery is never an e
xact science. We try to give you an above average chance to make sure the
surgeon you choose will do what you want. The final choice is yours,
choose wisely.
Why
Choose Hungary for treatment ? Hungary has a long history of providing world class
standards of medical and dental treatments.
Many doctors have either practiced or completed their training
internationally. Doctors speak English and/or German as patients have been
travelling to Hungary for years from countries like Germany, Holland,
Switzerland, Austria and now the UK and USA.
How
much can I save by having my treatments in Budapest ? Our
experience has shown that most patients save anywhere from
50-70% of the cost of similar treatments in the UK or USA,
including their travel and hotel costs.
What
are the clinics like ? We work with an ever growing number of newly renovated state- and privately-owned medical-, plastic
surgery- and dental clinics located throughout Budapest - some
within the hotels themselves.
The
hospitals and clinics are modern, hygienic and are equipped with state-of-the-art technology
and fully furnished, private, post-operative recovery rooms. Doctors, nurses
and the staff speak English and German and are there to take care of your
for the entire duration of your trip.
Where
can I stay while I'm in Budapest ? All the
clinics are located within minutes traveling distance of the
downtown areas of Budapest, so you can freely choose to make
your own accommodations or we can help reserve for you either a hotel, B&
B or a fully furnished, modern apartment.
More extensive surgery requiring general anesthesia, will
require you to stay 24-48 hours at one of our clinics / hospitals, but you have the option of staying additional nights with full
nursing / medical care if you wish.
How
long should I stay ? This depends on the treatment or surgery you're going to
have. We will advise you, initially, on
the recommended stay time for the surgery or treatment in question.
When you meet with your plastic surgeon /
cosmetic dentist for a personal consultation, you will be advised about the
continued length of treatment and the number of return visits required.
When booking flights,
we recommend that you always buy a ticket that can be changed in case you
need to extend your stay.
Dentistry:
Most dental work, including crowns, veneers and implants can be carried
out and completed within 6-7 days. If more extensive, combined treatments
are needed, you may need to stay up to 10 days. With dental implants, you
will need to return to Budapest for a second trip 3-4 months after the
implants are initially placed. Your second trip will also be for
approximately 6-10 days.
Plastic
Surgery: Traveling to Budapest for plastic surgery will
require you to stay anywhere from a few days to 3 weeks. We
recommend that you allow the maximum amount of time for rest and recovery
here before returning home. With many surgeries, complications can
develop in the 2nd and 3rd weeks; therefore, it's to your advantage to
stay as long as possible so your doctor can make a complete evaluation of
your health status, remove stitches and take care of any possibly
developing complications before you return home. You will be fully
informed on how to manage yourself thereafter.
Is
there anyway to shorten the amount of time I need to stay ?
Suture
removal at home - With most surgery, you
can shorten your stay time up to a week to ten days if a home doctor/nurse is able to provide you with the
appropriate suture removal and aftercare.
Pre-tests
done at home -
Having your pre-tests and medical evaluation for surgery at home and
bringing the results with you can decrease the time you will have to stay
in Hungary by up to 1 day. In most cases your consultation and surgery can
be done on the same day.
See
here You will be able to discuss this with the surgeon at your personal
consultation.
When
should I arrive ? Since
all plastic surgery, whether done under general anesthesia or with
local anesthetic, requires that you have a few pre-tests, the best time to
arrive to Budapest is 1 night before your pre-tests or 2 nights before
your surgery. For dentistry, you have the choice to arrive either
the night before or the same day as your first appointment.
How
do I pay for treatments ? We
have alternative ways to pay for your cosmetic surgery, so please as
k if you think you will have a problem.
Pre-tests: You
directly pay the clinics/hospitals with either local currency, euro cash
or credit/debit cards.
Plastic Surgery:
You are asked to directly pay the surgeon in euro cash after your
consultation or upon arrival to the clinic on the day of your surgery. Since
are agreements are directly with the surgeons, not the clinics, most are not
able to accept credit/debit cards. The prices indicated on this site
are for cash payments only. If you do pay by credit/debit card, there
could be additional fees due to bank and conversion fees.
It's easiest to prepare
for payment by just bringing euro cash with you. If you feel uncomfortable
with carrying cash with you, you should arrange for either euro travelers
checks to be cashed at the bank before you go for consultation or surgery
or speak with your credit card / bank about the best ways of accessing
funds when you are abroad.
Dentistry:
You can use your credit/debit cards to pay for all your treatments. Please
check with your bank(s) again about using your payment cards abroad before
you travel.
Accommodations
Airport/Clinic Tansfers: We
will arrange to collect you from the airport and for your return. You
can pay us directly either before your arrive or while you are here. Hotels,
B&Bs need to paid in advance. Apartments can either be paid in advance or
in euro cash upon arrival. Transfer fees will be collected either in
advance or at the end of your trip before you leave.
All other: If
you are planning on possibly having other treatments in addition to the
ones that are sheduled for you, your best preparing for this before you
arrive. Payment methods vary from clinic to clinic and from doctor to
doctor.
Do I have to pay
anything up front ? Upon
booking your surgery, we will ask for a £200 deposit. This ca
n be taken over the telephone in the UK and refunded to your card if you
cancel surgery less than 14 days in advance. This
will automatically be deducted from the cost of your treatment. If
you want to transfer the costs of your treatments ahead of time, please
contact Linda.
What if I fall ill before I travel or I have a change in
my present health condition ? Since there is risk to having any type of surgery and our
surgeons will only operate if you are determined to be in complete health. We
ask that you notify us immediately if you develop a fever or any other
important change such as a common cold, allergy, unexpected menstruation,
delayed menstruation, herpes infection or any other type of skin infection(ie. spots), especially in the area(s) to be operated as your operation may need to be
postponed to a more suitable time and date.
Please consult
with us about the best ways to prevent any delay in your treatments.
We cannot advise you about any medical issues and recommend
that you see your home doctor if you have any questions concerning your
suitability to undergo surgery.
In case your treatment needs to be postponed before you travel, the £200 deposit will be returned to you or applied
towards your rescheduled surgery if made, latest up to 1 week before your scheduled arrival. Within 1 week's cancellation time, the deposit will be used to cover the administrative fees incurred to cover
the costs of bank transfers, currency conversion fees, hotel /
apartment reservations plus any additional costs of reserving your
surgery. Any additional out of pocket expences incurred
by us as a result of a late cancellation
will be deducted from any monies paid. Please contact us if you need
more clarification on this.
What if I am not able to travel or I need to cancel my
surgery for personal reasons ? If you need to cancel your surgery for personal,
non-medical, reasons, we ask that you notify us at least 2 weeks before your
arrival, otherwise some costs may be incurred which you will be expected to
pay.
Any deposited monies will be returned or applied towards
your rescheduled surgery.
A minimum,
non-refundable fee may be incurred to cover the costs of bank transfers,
currency conversion fees, hotel / apartment reservations plus any additional
costs of reserving your surgery. Please contact us if you need more clarification
on this.
